Why do we teach children math when there are real problems?

An evening with and for teachers at Tekniska in Tensta. Meet Philippe Longchamps in a talk about how mathematics, science, and technology can be connected to students’ everyday lives – and to the big questions shaping our time.

Together with a moderator from Tekniska, Philippe discusses what it means to be a teacher today – when students are confronted with war, climate change and disinformation, while schools are expected to spark their interest in mathematics, science and technology. The discussion draws on concrete examples from the classroom and addresses how source criticism can be integrated into teaching, how interdisciplinary projects can make learning more exploratory and creative, and how STEM/STE(A)M can be linked to issues such as energy, climate, and democracy.

The program begins at 16.00 with arrival, drinks, and light refreshments. The discussion takes place from 16.30 to 17.30 and is followed by a mingle until 18.00.
